I was all alone last weekend (K was rabbit hunting and J was with his dad) and it was a good time to relax and do whatever I wanted to do! The weekend kicked off with a few beers and a sushi dinner at Rain with Mel and Chuck.
After dinner, I chilled on my fantastic couch and caught up on all the Ellen shows I recorded earlier in the week.
I started Saturday off with a 30 minute sesh on the arc trainer and a pilates class, then headed to Costco to make the best purchase of my life (Bodymedia band) and pick up a few items for Marcy's birthday party and threw in a little clothes shopping after that. I made it home in time to grab a quick bite to eat, mess around with my bodymedia band and get ready for church. After church I went to Clerissa's for Marcy's 40th Birthday Party and Crawfish Boil.
After hanging out with my high school buddies and eating my weight in crawfish and beef tenderloin and shrimp and grits, I had to jet to Arlington for another birthday party (Amy Wolfe's) and game night at Jess and Jud's.
We played Would You Rather and one of Stephanie's challenges was to sit in the lap of the player to your right, facing them, for a whole round. It was lovely! The night turned into a late one and I was very glad I made the decision to go to Saturday night church since it gave me the chance to sleep very late Sunday morning :) I finally quit lounging around 11:00 and got to work cleaning the house. I so love a clean, clutter free house. K got home Sunday afternoon, we took a nap and then I hit the greenline on the bike to see how really great my Bodymedia Band worked. Unfortunately my calorie burn estimator that I use to way overestimates the calories I burn during exercise :( But at least I know now and will not have to be wondering why in the hell the pounds aren't falling off of me!
The night and weekend ended after J got home from his dad's with dinner at Swanky's :) The end of a wonderful weekend was met with an incredibly shitty Monday after I had a wreck because of a stupid bush in the middle of the intersection where I was trying to make a left turn!!!!
Thanks a lot stupid neighborhood beautification project by Central Gardens! Monday night consisted of baseball and stocking up at the grocery store for the week. Tuesday was better with some wonderful weather and a spaghetti family dinner and Mom and Roy's.
My life is wonderful and beautiful even though it is far from perfect because I am blessed beyond what I deserve. I write random things about this life in order to be able to look back and remember it all!

A viral girls' weekend and Fat Tuesday
Last weekend was our annual Girls' Weekend at the Lake and it went horribly wrong :( It was suppose to be a nice weekend so Heather, Jess, Katie and I headed east to meet Susan Friday afternoon and started the weekend off with guns and coolers a blazing.
We had big plans of heading over to the hunting land Saturday to do a little target shooting. Friday night was spent with a lot of food that we cooked, a bit of wine that we drank and lots of music, dancing and gossipping....We woke up Saturday morning still wanting to go shoot but got a little side tracked with the whole mess of a funeral for Whitney Houston and before that was over with, I was hit hard with some kind of stomach virus. I proceeded to spend the rest of the day very close to the toilet because of the sudden outbursts my stomach would have through my mouth and the rest of the girls chilled and we watched movies and gossipped more.
They finally got sick of all the snacky food we had in the house and headed out for Mexican food while I stayed in bed dying a slow death. But they didn't forget me all night, they came back with a hell of a tequila buzz and proceeded to annoy me when I wasn't dying laughing at them.
We stayed up pretty late talking again and I guess if I have to be sick and miserable, it is at least fun having great friends around to gossip with. The weekend was a huge fail for me but everyone else had fun and as of now, 4 days later, no one else is sick! They left the lakehouse around lunch time and I stayed and napped a little while longer until I had the energy to make the drive back home.
Sunday and Monday were rest and recovery days for me and yesterday was Fat Tuesday so I celebrated literally.....I made myself feel as fat as I could on cupcakes and crawfish! It was so good but today I pay. I'm fasting for Ash Wednesday and feel like I could eat my boot. Hapy Lent!

Juicing and Valentines
It's back! I don't know why I let the women at the Diet Center talk me out of my fruit/veggie concoctions knowing how wonderful they made me feel and how many more fruit/veggie servings I am able to get into my day when I drink these. But the drinks are back and I can't wait to start feeling the benefits.
This week also brought back Valentines Day.
My baby boy snuck this into my purse for me to find at work. When he was putting them together for his class, he told me most people were getting 2 Pixy Stix and he was only giving the special people 3.....glad I ranked in the 3 category with him! :))And my hot husband had this waiting for me when I got home!
I have the best guys in the world!!!!!
MARDI GRAS!!!!!
Oh what a wonderful time of the year! I get very excited and hopeful this time of year....Mardi Gras is here, Lent is just around the corner and Easter is almost here which means the winter is ALMOST GONE!!!!! There couldn't be any better news around this time :)
K, J and I rolled southward last Friday with Mom, Roy, Sissy, Taylor and John not far behind. We made it to Lafayette in time to rest a little before meeting up with everyone else for dinner.
I finally got to go to Prejean's and it did not disappoint! I liked it better than DI's and it was much closer.
We had the whole damn gang there and ate and drank and listened to music until we were about to pass out. The band even referenced the "Tennessee Gang" several times.
Saturday morning started with a trip to University of Louisiana - Lafayette to check out the swamp they have on campus that K has been telling us about for a while.
The microbiology unit at UL had the swamp built a long time ago on campus and uses it for their studies. It was really neat!
We even spotted a Gator.
After the swamp tour, we met up with everyone at the parking lot at Peanut's work where we would be conducting all of our tailgating activities in between parades.
We had quite the gang and we ate and ate and ate and ate. Boudin, wings, gumbo cracklins, boudin balls and King Cake all day long! It was heaven.
K even did a little cracklin cookin'! The batch he cooked was the best one IMO.....he doesn't like them as crispy as the other ones that were cooked, just like me.
When we weren't eating, we were doing a lot of hanging out too. The Krewe de Chiens parade was the first one of the day and we made our way over in time to snag a pretty good spot.
The dogs were adorable again this year!
The second parade was the Carnival en Rio that night and it was a good one too. The always play the best music.
Everyone was totally into it and we collected a huge amount of throws!
Once we made it back to the hotel, we sorted everything out and put all the beads on J. It was a load!!!!
We ended our Mardi Gras weekend with a trip to Rouse's Market to pick up red velvet King Cakes to bring home and an amazing brunch at the Blue Dog Cafe before heading back north....against everyone's wishes :(
Another fantastic Louisiana weekend was had by all!
