The boy is back on the mound and other happenings over the last week

J made it back on the mound last week and was as good as ever.
The Redbirds home opener was Friday night and we finally got to see the new video scoreboard that has been the talk of the town for a few months now, it is the biggest one in minor league baseball.
Dave Brown delivered the game ball via the Channel 5 chopper.
Rocky found some people not paying attention to the game and he didn't like it!
Saturday was full of J's baseball and just chilling at the house that night in preparation for Sunday. I had my video assessment for the Lieutenant's promotions and it lasted all day. I was stressed beyond belief but so glad to have it over with. Everything about the promotions are out of my hands now and I just pray that the sheriff promotes DESERVING candidates!
We cooked out some of the meat we brought back from Louisiana and it was so damn good. We picked up a cream cheese and jalapeno stuffed Cajun pork loin and about died when we tasted how good it was. Unfortunately, we only brought one home since we were buying from a new meat market and not sure if it was going to be any good. I can promise you that will be the last time we make that mistake!
Monday night, Kennon went to a business dinner/fundraiser that Matt puts on every year so that left J and I on our own after the baseball game so we did what we do very well.....we had dessert for dinner and prank called people on J's new phone while we stuffed our faces.
The rest of the week has been laid back! We didn't have any baseball last night or Tuesday night so we were able to relax with no schedules and even got to build a fire and have a few cocktails in the backyard last night :)

Another Louisiana Easter!

Last weekend was Easter and K and I headed "back home" to celebrate with his family but not before seeing J play an amazing baseball game!
This pic was taken after he hit 3 RBI's with bases loaded to bring his team back in the game with a 10-9 score. AND that was after 2 RBI's in the 1st and another one in the 2nd. That boy was on fire!
This was taken at the end of the game after he was given the game ball....it's hidden in his left hand, he wouldn't hold it up on display for the pic.
K and I headed south Friday morning. We made the drive fine and made our usual stop in Krotz Springs for boudin balls and cracklins and extra boudin balls to bring home for J since he didn't make the trip this year.
Dale and Ryan were gone to the camp fishing when we got there so it was just us and Betty. She made us some shrimp po' boys and then we headed over to Evangeline Downs to do a little gambling. We all left a little lighter than we came :(
Kyle and Kristina had a crawfish boil Saturday and they were huge and delish!

We ate and ate and ate!

We also had to take rides on the 4 wheeler,
make chicken deviled eggs,
pacque eggs,
and laugh at a bunch of ridiculousness!
We got up Sunday and went to Mass and then back to Dale and Betty's for some gumbo before we hit the road again.
Apparently Mom and Roy were feeling a little silly on Easter weekend too, hundreds of miles away!

Baseball, babies, boats and birthdays

Gotta catch up again! Baseball, babies, boats and birthdays are some of the things that have happened since the last post.
We have been enjoying a lot of baseball, a lot of J's and some of The University of Memphis' and ready to put some Redbirds action in there too.
Leslie and Josh's sweet baby Violet made her appearance and she is pretty much perfect!
Weezer's cancer spread to her brain and she got very, very sick and was hospitalized for a while but was able to miraculously rally and still make her cruise vacation that Melanie booked in January!!! She even felt good enough to rub on some young man :()
We celebrated Jessica's birthday.

Kennon made his way to St. Petersburg for work and enjoyed some stone crab and Indy car races while he was there.
And this past weekend we had a few activities other than baseball. Marcy was house sitting at Clerissa's so we hung out there and played, cooked, watched the Final Four games, tried to wear the dogs out, walked a frog on a leash and hula hooped!
