I loved the trout the boys caught at Spring River so much, I spent a pretty good part of the next day doing my part to put more of it on the dinner table but not before relaxing by and in the water first.
It was REAL hot and I wanted to relax in the freezing water on a raft but the current wouldn't let me stay anywhere near the camp so K rigged me up an anchor to keep me in place.
J spent a lot of the day with the Mays boys riding his tube down the rapids that were near the camp and would sometimes end up down by us.
After relaxing for a while, I did a little fishing and actually caught some trout this time around. I even caught a nice enough one to save for the grill.
Melanie has the before picture so there is no telling when I will get it but this is the after picture. The rest of the night was spent on the porch of the cabin enjoying our last night of peaceful surroundings. We got up Thursday morning and headed to St. Louis. Over half of the drive was through a national park on a small road that wound all through the mountains with nothing between the road and a huge drop off....it was a nightmare but we made it safely and got to STL in time for a little pool time.
After some play time, we headed to Westport to eat at Pujols 5, Albert Pujols' restaurant that J told us about.
It was a very nice part of town and the restaurant had good food too so J did a great job with his recommendation even though he didn't want to pose for my pics.
We wandered around Westport for a little bit after dinner but didn't stay too long because we wanted to get back to the hotel and catch the last part of the Cardinals game.
We got going Friday and headed straight to Busch Stadium to do some shopping. K and I needed some Cards gear for the game and I had promised to buy J something as part of his reward for such a good report card.
We headed to Joe Bucks for a really good lunch and then to the City Museum to have some more play time.
I wish Memphis had a City Museum....K and I had as much fun playing as J did. We didn't even have time to make it to the roof of the museum, which we heard was the best part because we wanted to get to Busch Stadium in time for batting practice.
The Cards were playing the Cubs, a HUGE rivalry, so the stadium was packed and we had a great night.
The Cards won and we were there to witness Pujols hit his 2000th career hit and I got it on video.
Pujols hits 2000
Our plan for Saturday was to go to the Zoo but the rain changed our plans. We ran out to The Hill and had a lovely lunch at Eovaldi's Deli
and then headed over to Union Station to shop, eat lots of ice cream and watch the fish.
We went back to the hotel and played in the pool and watched the Cards game until it was dinner time. We headed back to Joe Bucks because it was so good and close to the hotel which meant we didn't have to drive.....K and I still get turned around everytime we try to drive the streets of downtown STL.
We had a little trouble getting camera ready at first....
but were finally able to get it together.
All good things must come to an end and this trip did the next day. We had so much fun and I am not the least bit disappointed that we didn't get to take a beach trip this year....but that may be because I know I will be going in less than 3 months. We made it back home and life is back to normal for now except I started the Diet Center plan yesterday that Sissy has lost about 20 pounds on. I still have 11 weeks to be a skinny bride and I hope this helps out!
