Football, sunsets, egg nog, friends and food

So during halftime of THE championship game, K and I went back to the soybean field to check for deer and we were greeted with this beautiful vision.

I don't believe I will ever get tired of the beauty that surrounds out home. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful retreat filled with people I couldn't love anymore than I do.
The second half of the game was shared with this little treat.

The game was so good and so damn exciting and went down to the very last second with Bama winning. Not how I wanted it to end but am going to pull my panties up and be a Roll Tide kinda girl next month. Gotta keep things down south!
After the game, K and I headed up to J. Alexander's for a few drinks while we waited for Heather and Ceci to show up.

A few more drinks and my favorite sammy later and I was about ready for bed. The girls came over to the house for about an hour and as soon as they decided to head out to Mulligan's, I ran to bed as quick as I could.
Sunday was spent sleeping late, meeting Marcy and Wendy for brunch at Local Gastropub on the Square. It's in the building that Yosemite Sam's use to be in and was fabulous. We started with a few midtown mimosas and the crab stuffed, tempura fried avocado.

Fantastic!
For my meal, I had the John Hughes Breakfast Club and it is definitely the best breaky sandwich I have ever had in my life. Not sure what was so perfect about it but it could have been the tomato jam, the chipotle aioli, the avocado, the homemade bread or the combination of all of that with eggs, bacon and cheese :)

The rest of the afternoon was relaxation with football and a book. Definitely was in my happy place last weekend.

Thanksgiving done and Christmas on the way

Thanksgiving was such a success but is over now and we have Christmas to look forward to so last week I got the fall decorations put away and got started on the winter decos. With a few small changes, the fall stuff transitioned into Christmas bling.

Last week was also spent getting back into the swing of a normal work week after our short one the week before and J having to do some catch up on his reading for school every chance he had.

We made it through the week, J went to his dad's and K and I had a movie night at home with a little bourbon and a lot of boudin. J's movie pick, Convicted, sucked face but the drinks and food were mahvahlus!!!

After sleeping in late for the first time in forever today, I made a trip to the gym and am now back in my chair watching the SEC championship game and cheering on the Dawgs! Hope they can pull it out today since I'd hate to have to cheer for Notre Dame in the championship.

Sunday Funday

After the gym, church and lunch at Jason's deli, J & I headed out to Mom's to pick her up for an early afternoon movie.

I was nominated chauffeur for the day.

Red Dawn was really good even if totally unbelievable. Nothing like a good grandmother, mother, son outing!!
My night ended with the beginning of Christmas decorating. I was able to get everything up that I already had but need a lot more now that we have the bigger house. Hopefully we will have time to get a tree and more decos by the end of this week.

Thanksgiving

Hosting our very first thanksgiving was a huge success :)))) The day started with J, K and I meeting mom and Roy for church at CTK. We made it back home around 11:30 and got busy frying the turkeys, setting out appetizers and getting all the fixings ready as the family and guests started arriving. Dale, Betty, Mom, Roy, Sissy, John, Tay, Bennie, Kris, Brian, Cayson & Carter showed up to the party and we had so much fun. It wasn't nearly as stressful as I thought it would be and I'm sure the wine had nothing to do with that. Roy brought his little car over and we had a blast driving it around the hood.

I enjoyed everything so much about the day that I can't wait to do it again!

Night before Thanksgiving

Had to go into work for a few last minute things and then spent the rest of my day prepping, baking and cooking. K did his fair share too. The outdoor kitchen, the patio and the garage all needed some cleaning out and the turkeys needed to be injected and seasoned.

The last thing I felt like doing was cooking dinner so K picked up some Gus's since the in laws have never had it. Considering there was 1 piece left out of 16, I'd say the newbies and the ones use to it enjoyed. J had 2 plates and a snack!

Well I'm off to the gym to counteract what's going down later on today. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Meeting Jason Motte

Even though Melanie's phone rang and rang and rang during Jason's speech about how cancer has affected him and his family and what the Wings Foundation means to him, he was still a super cool down to earth kinda guy and his bad ass sports life hasn't gotten to his head. We loved getting to talk with him for a little while!
