Ducks and Susan and baseball

We welcomed the newest edition to our family last week, Boo & Coo, our new mallards :) That is not the actual spelling of their names but I don't know what is the actual spelling so I spell it the way it sounds. They are named after the French phrase that sounds like BooCoo and means too much. They came from Matt Wilson, who bought them for his work conference where the theme was Duck Dynasty. He clearly forgot they were live animals that would be walking around and pooping so he had Kennon come get them and now they are our babies!
Susan came in for the weekend and we had a great 2 days of catching up. Hanging at the L Oasis, shopping, mani/pedis and a girls' dinner at Alchemy took up the weekend. It was a great time but went by too quick.
The weekend wrapped up with a baseball scrimmage in Somerville against a team from Jackson. The sun was bright but the temps were low so it wasn't all that enjoyable. The boys did a good job though and hopefully are ready for the first tourney that is coming up this weekend.

Valentines and crawfish

Kennon got me the best VD present I could ask for! I came home to a sweet card and a bouquet of my favorite kind of flowers but the really great part was the news he had a bag of crawfish on order from LA!!!!!!

He picked up the mud bugs Friday night and we had a boil Saturday! The temps were really cold Saturday but the sun was shining and we didn't care. We set up everything in the outdoor kitchen and had our first meal out there. It was an almost perfect day!

Lent and some hope

I bought a deep fryer a couple of weeks ago & it is the best worst decision I think I ever made. It is so easy and so not messy to make perfectly fried food which is a plus but I've used it 3 times in 4 days which is not good! I made perfect shrimp po boys for Fat Tuesday & whipped up a batch of Fried Sea Snapper (that we caught on AMI!) for Lent Friday. YUM!!!!!

And to add to this wonderful week, I spotted these blooms yesterday!!!!!! Cannot wait to officially say goodbye to winter one more time :)

Mardi Gras Weekend

We made our way down to Louisiana last Friday for our annual Mardi Gras trip! As soon as we got in, we went to Kyle & Kristina's for the most important part of the weekend, we got to meet Sarah Beth for the first time! She is so tiny and so beautiful :)

And then there were the other really important parts: crawfish boils, beignets, parades & quality time with loved ones.

All of the fun ended too early as usual but even earlier this year since Sunday was Superbowl Sunday and we had to get home in time for the game.
